"7(x'7- b'L, <br /> AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 20-18 OF THE <br /> SOUTH BEND MUNICIPAL CODE ESTABLISHING <br /> FINES FOR OVERTIME PARKING <br /> STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT: <br /> The fine assessed by the City of South Bend for overtime <br /> parking was established in 1972 and has not been increased since that <br /> time. The Common Council believes it is in the best interest of the <br /> City to increase that fine in order to offset the ever increasing <br /> cost of providing traffic safety services. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE <br /> CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, AS FOLLOWS: <br /> SECTION I . Section 20-18 of the Municipal Code of the <br /> City of South Bend shall be amended as follows: <br /> Sec. 20-18. Answering notice on <br /> overtime parking; payment of fine. <br /> The owner or operator who has been <br /> notified of a violation of the parking <br /> regulations, as herein provided, may, <br /> within five ( 5) days after being <br /> notified, answer at the office of the <br /> Traffic Violations Bureau, to the <br /> charge of such violation as set forth <br /> in such notice, and pay a prescribed <br /> fee of Twe-Beiiars-+$2788+ Three Dollars <br /> ( $3 . 00) in settlement of the offense or <br /> charge, or Five-Beliars-+$509+ Ten <br /> Dollars ( $10. 00) after the expiration <br /> of five ( 5) days. An acceptance of the <br /> payment of the fee and the authority by <br /> the Clerk shall be deemed complete <br /> satisfaction for the violation and the <br /> violator shall be given a receipt which <br /> so states. <br /> SECTION II . This Ordinance shall be in full force and <br /> effect from and after its passage by the Common Counci, approval <br /> by the Mayor and legal publication, August 1, 1986. <br /> // - <br /> M=':er of the Co 07 Council <br />
