"7(x'7- b'L, AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 20-18 OF THE SOUTH BEND MUNICIPAL CODE ESTABLISHING FINES FOR OVERTIME PARKING STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT: The fine assessed by the City of South Bend for overtime parking was established in 1972 and has not been increased since that time. The Common Council believes it is in the best interest of the City to increase that fine in order to offset the ever increasing cost of providing traffic safety services. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, AS FOLLOWS: SECTION I . Section 20-18 of the Municipal Code of the City of South Bend shall be amended as follows: Sec. 20-18. Answering notice on overtime parking; payment of fine. The owner or operator who has been notified of a violation of the parking regulations, as herein provided, may, within five ( 5) days after being notified, answer at the office of the Traffic Violations Bureau, to the charge of such violation as set forth in such notice, and pay a prescribed fee of Twe-Beiiars-+$2788+ Three Dollars ( $3 . 00) in settlement of the offense or charge, or Five-Beliars-+$509+ Ten Dollars ( $10. 00) after the expiration of five ( 5) days. An acceptance of the payment of the fee and the authority by the Clerk shall be deemed complete satisfaction for the violation and the violator shall be given a receipt which so states. SECTION II . This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage by the Common Counci, approval by the Mayor and legal publication, August 1, 1986. // - M=':er of the Co 07 Council
