STAFF REPORT <br /> COUNCIL INITIATED (BECK) #1016-86 May 8, 1986 <br /> Controlled Use - Exempt Area <br /> City of South Bend <br /> REQUESTED ACTION: This proposed ordinance would extend the <br /> boundaries of the controlled use exempt area to <br /> permit the growth of certain entertainment and <br /> restaurant activities therein. Any Class A <br /> cabaret or restaurant, which sells beer or <br /> intoxicating liquor for consumption on the <br /> premises, and is located within the exempt area, <br /> would be exempt from the 1 ,000 foot locational <br /> requirements from any other two controlled uses. <br /> The intent of the exempted area is to promote <br /> the use of the downtown area as a regional <br /> retail business and convention center. <br />
