Lehman House, Four Square, 1922, Contributing. <br />Right side of photo 25 <br />The two-story house has a brick foundation and porch with stone caps. The house has vinyl <br />siding on its first story and modern (c. 1960) clapboards on its second story. The house has 1/1 <br />modern vinyl windows. The hipped roof is covered with asphalt. The front (south) façade has a <br />full-width porch with brick walls capped with stone. The walls carry three wood posts that <br />support a low-pitched hipped roof. The entry to the porch is on the west end of the façade. A <br />modern entry door is in the west end of the porch’s back wall and a pair of 1/1 windows is east <br />of the door. The second story features two 1/1 windows on the façade. <br /> <br />The house was constructed on a lot purchased by Noah Lehman from heirs of Lathrop Taylor in <br />1904-1905. Lehman was St. Joseph County Recorder from 1908-1916 after which time he was <br />engaged in real estate development. He built this house in 1922, then sold it to DeWitt Ingleright, <br />a contractor, who in turn sold it to George and Grace Lemler in 1922. The couple used the <br />property as an investment and rental property.33 <br /> <br />217 Bronson Street.
