INTER-OFFICE MEMORANDUM

DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS
DIVISION OF ENGINEERING

TO: Theresa Heffner, Clerk
Board of Public Works
FROM: Rebecca Plantz, Project Engineer
SUBJECT: Change Order 2, Project No. 121-029B
Morris Performing Arts Center Carpet Replacement
DATE: July 27, 2023
Change Order 2 to the Morris Performing Arts Center Carpet Replacement is to increase the
contract amount by $19,040.00. This increase is to cover increased labor for patching concrete
in the upper level that came loose during carpet removal, carpeting the trough lids as a design
change after the carpet was already awarded, removing a double layer of glue in the sound
booth, and additional cleaning around shows. Increased material costs are also included to
cover the patch material and tap downs at exposed edges not originally called out for edging.
This final change order will bring the total increase to the contract to 25.3% due to unforeseen
conditions attributed to the manufacturing delays and surface conditions under the existing
carpet.

The additional days and cleaning around shows were a result of manufacturing delays that
pushed the carpet installation out beyond the window of when the Morris Theater was not
scheduled for two months. The carpet crew had to bring in material and have it back out within
the same week for several months in order to finish the carpet around shows. This will be the
final change order as the project is in its punch list phase.

Please call with your questions (5998).
