This work will include the extension of 20-inch ductile iron water main
from the South Well Field Water Treatment Plant from Chippewa Avenue to Ireland Road. The
Department of Public Works secured a 30-foot easement through the Norfolk Southern Railroad
corridor for the water main installation.
This project will be bid in 2023 with the anticipation that work will begin in 2024. If pipe is available,
some of the water main could be installed in 2023 but given pipe manufacturer lead times and pipe
availability, the pipe lead times suggest delivery carrying out to January 2024 to March 2024. Work
should begin in April 2024 after the weather improves.
Public Bid Schedule
Advertisement 1: July 28, 2023
Advertisement 2: August 4, 2023
Pre-Bid Meeting: August 9, 2023 (8:30 AM – 9:30 AM)
Bid Opening: August 22, 2023
Bid Award (tentative): September 12, 2023 or September 26, 2023
Attached, herein, is the Notice to Bidders for publication.
