Definitions <br />Established Medical Treatment Facility means the occupational medical treatment provider and/or <br />emergency care center identified as being capable of, and established by an C & E Excavating, Inc. <br />location to initially treat employee injuries and illnesses. <br />First Aid means the following types of treatment: <br />• Using non-prescription medications at non-prescription strength <br />Cleaning, flushing, or soaking wounds on the skin surface <br />• Using wound coverings, such as bandages, 'BandAids', gauze pads, etc., or using 'SteriStrips' or <br />butterfly <br />bandages <br />■ Using hot or cold therapy <br />■ Using any totally non -rigid means of support, such as elastic bandages, wraps, etc. <br />• Using temporary immobilization devices while transporting an employee, such as splints, slings, <br />neck collars, or back boards <br />■ Drilling a fingernail or toenail to relieve pressure, or draining fluids from blisters <br />■ Using eye patches <br />■ Using simple irrigation or a cotton swab to remove foreign bodies not embedded in or adhered to the <br />eye <br />• Using irrigation, tweezers, cotton swab or other simple means to remove splinters or foreign material <br />from areas OTHER than the eye <br />■ Using finger guards <br />■ Using massages <br />• Drinking fluids to relieve heat stress <br />Illness can be classified as a skin disease/disorder, respiratory condition, poisoning, or other illnesses resulting <br />from an event in the work environment. Examples include, but are not limited to: <br />■ Contact dermatitis <br />■ Eczema <br />■ Silicosis <br />■ Asbestosis <br />■ Toxic inhalation <br />• Poisonings by lead, mercury, or other metals <br />■ Poisonings by carbon monoxide, hydrogen sulfide, or other gases <br />■ Poisonings by organic solvents or by other chemicals <br />• Heatstroke, sunstroke, heat exhaustion, or other heat -related factors <br />* Freezing, frostbite, or other cold -related factors <br />17 <br />
