FROM MAIN STREET <br /> Dear Members of the Council: <br /> In accordance with Municipal Code Section 18-53 .8 , a favorable <br /> recommendation is being submitted to the Common Council concerning the <br /> Vacation Petition filed by Mr. James V. Davis, Secretary, The <br /> Salvation Army, 510 South Main Street, to vacate the following alley: <br /> The first east/west alley south of Monroe Street, <br /> running East from Main Street, for a distance of <br /> approximately 330 feet to Michigan Street, excepting <br /> the rights-of-way of the intersecting north/south alley. <br /> For your information, a Public Hearing concerning the Vacation <br /> Petition as filed was held by the Board of Public Works on February <br /> 17, 1987 . <br /> Captain George Smelser, was present on behalf of The Salvation Army <br /> and spoke in favor of the proposed vacation.
