tom-intact ort:
VOW itiorko an Vropirrtt Varation Qtommitteu
The September 24, 2001 meeting of the Public Works and Property Vacation Committee was
called to order by its Chairperson, Council Member David Varner at 3:57 p.m. in the Council
Informal Meeting Room.
Persons in attendance included Council Members Coleman, Varner, White, Pfeifer, Kirsits,
Aranowski, King, and Kelly;Gem L. Mezas, the petitioner, made the presentation. She noted that the vacation is necessary
since they are attempting to save an old maple and thirteen (13) feet are necessary to save the root
system. Ms. Mezas stated that she is attempting to save the tree in order to save the integrity of the
neighborhood.
Council Member King stated that this area is in his District and he believes the vacation would
benefit all property owners.
Following discussion, Council Member King made a motion, seconded by Council Member
Aranowski that Bill NO. 85-01 be recommended favorably to Council. The motion passed.
Under unfinished business, Dr. Varner noted that the Council should have received a memo from
the Council Attorney on the Ticket Sales ordinance. He voiced concern about the letter received
from the General Counsel's Office of Notre Dame and asked the Council Attorney to follow-up on
this matter. The Council Attorney noted that she did not have input into what Mr. Hoye sent and
stated that she would update the Council.
There being no further business to come before the Committee, Council Member Varner adjourned
the meeting at 4:05 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Council Member David Varner, Chairperson
Public Works and Property Vacation Committee
KCF:kmf
Attachment
•
