South Bend is <br /> the only area where the petitioner owns its own facilities. <br /> Council Member Kelly noted that this is a major development project in the down town area. <br /> Following discussion, Council Member Varner made a motion, seconded by Council Member <br /> Kirsits that Bill No. 01-65 be recommended favorably to Council. The motion passed. <br /> Under miscellaneous business, Council Member Kelly reminded the Committee members that there <br /> is a meeting scheduled for Wednesday, July 25 at 4 p.m. On the continuing discussion on tax <br /> abatement procedures. <br /> Council Member King noted that he would be abstaining from voting on Bill No. 01-65, with a <br /> statement being made after the reading of the title o <br /> prepared f the Bill. He noted that he had <br /> g <br /> g <br /> discussed this issue with the Council President and the Council Attorney. Council Member King <br /> stressed that he has no employment relationship currently with the petitioner and that he has no <br /> ownership interests in the petitioner's property. In light of his contractual retirement benefits and <br /> the opportunity to participate at his costs on the petitioner's insurance,he would be abstaining. <br /> Felicia Davis, an IUSB student, was then introduced to the Committee.
