Committee wort: <br /> Zoning an annexation QCommtttee <br /> The August 13, 2001 meeting of the Zoning and Annexation Committee was called to order by its <br /> Vice-Chairperson, Council Member Andrew Ujdak at 3:35 p.m. in the Council Informal Meeting <br /> Room. <br /> Persons in attendance included Council Members: Aranowski, Kelly, Varner, King, Ujdak, and <br /> Pfeifer; Citizen Member Isabele Gonzalez, Building Commissioner Don Fozo, Todd Zeiger, <br /> Rosemarie L. Apple, William J. Lee, Jeff Myers of Area Plan, Jon Hunt, and Nancy Sulok of the <br /> iotttb 364310 Ertl:Mitt and Kathleen Cekanski-Farrand, Council Attorney. <br /> Council Member Ujdak noted that Chairperson Karen L. White received a letter from Mr. John <br /> Oxian, President of the Historic Preservation Commission dated today (copy attached) which <br /> requests that Bill No. 61-01 requesting landmark status for the old Washington School be <br /> continued to August 27th. <br /> The Committee then reviewed substitute Bill No. 46-01 which is a zoning request for the property <br /> located at 4324 S. Main Street(copy attached). Jeff Myers of Area Plan reported that the Area Plan <br /> Commission held a public hearing on this bill on July 17th and sends it to the Council with a <br /> favorable recommendation. <br /> Mr. William J. Lee made the presentation on substitute Bill No. 46-01. He noted that the house on <br /> the property burned down several years ago. There was no one from the public to speak either in <br /> favor or against the measure. <br /> Since a quorum of the Committee was not present,for formal action was taken. <br /> The Committee then reviewed substitute Bill No. 47-01 which is a zoning request for the property <br /> located at 1317 Lincolnway West (copy attached). Jeff Myers of Area Plan reported that the Area <br /> Plan Commission held a public hearing on this bill on July 17th and sends it to the Council with a <br /> favorable recommendation. <br /> Rosemarie L. Apple made the presentation on substitute Bill No. 47-01. She noted that she is <br /> requesting that the property be rezoned to permit a single-family residence since she believes that <br /> this would be the only appropriate use for the property. <br /> Since a quorum of the Committee was not present,for formal action was taken. <br /> Council Member Ujdak noted that Sean Pierre Trotter, the owner and operator of Frankie's BBQ, <br /> Inc. Sent a letter to the City Clerk's Office dated today requesting that Bill Nos. 49-01 and 50-01 <br /> be continued until August 27th(copy attached). <br /> Jon Hunt, Chairperson of the Special Advisory Zoning Committee then reviewed the August 13, <br /> 2001 "Interim Report"addressing the old Nuner School (copy attached). <br /> The Council Attorney recommended that the interim report be sent to the South Bend Community <br /> School Corporation. Council President Pfeifer agreed with this recommendation and further <br /> recommended that the entire School Board and School Superintendent be sent copies. Mr. Hunt <br /> stated that he would do that. <br />
