* <br /> �, BILL NO. 23-20 <br /> y,. �.r�� ,Ii i <br /> !� `/ SPECIAL RESOLUTION NO. 5017-23 I V <br /> A SPECIAL RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH <br /> BEND, INDIANA, PUBLICLY ACKNOWLEDGING AND HONORING JOHN ADAMS <br /> HIGH SCHOOL SENIOR ANGEL THOMAS FOR HER SUCCESS IN THE 2023 GIRLS <br /> STATE INDOOR TRACK MEET <br /> Oreiwta4 the phrase"fast woman"has historically had different meanings, not all of them <br /> complimentary; and <br /> 0ie in the case of John Adams High School Senior track athlete Angel Thomas, "fast woman" <br /> has only one meaning and it is very complimentary; and <br /> OfiCa.etal on March 25,2023,Angel used the Girls State Indoor Track Meet to become Adams first <br /> individual Girls Indoor Track champion by winning the Girls 60 Meter Dash in 7.62 seconds, the <br /> fastest time by a high school girl in Indiana this year; and <br /> C,� Angel also competed in the 100 Meter Dash, finishing fourth with an Adams school <br /> record time of 11.91 seconds; and <br /> L� fe+w,, Angel is not satisfied with these accomplishments,but uses them to set her goals for the <br /> 2023 outdoor season; and <br /> L,� those goals include breaking the 200-meter record for Adams High School, along with the <br /> record for long jump, and bringing home state championships in the 100- and 200-meter dashes. <br /> a4js : <br /> Section I.The Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, publicly acknowledges and <br /> honors Angel Thomas for her athletic accomplishments, including a state championship in the 60- <br /> meter dash. <br /> Section II.The Council also wishes Angel the best of luck in accomplishing her remaining goals in <br /> the 2023 outdoor season. <br /> Section III.
