Ton Container hispectimr, Cleaning, and Recononing <br />a) In addition to the required period retest, it is recommended that each tore <br />container be internally and externally inspected prior to each filling. This <br />includes all appurtenances, such as i1alves and fusible plugs. Criteria for such <br />inspection is outlined in "Cylinder and Ton container Procedure for Chlorine <br />Packaging, " Chlorine Institute Pamphlet 17, Sections 3, 4, and 5. <br />P. PERIODIC RETESTING AND RE -INSPECTION <br />1. Ton Containers to be Tested <br />a) Ton containers must be retes[ed at least once in five years (DOT Section 173.34e <br />and Section 173.31 d). <br />b) Ton containers can be filled until the end of the calenclar year during which their <br />five-year test is due. <br />c) Retests are also required after any reheat h•eahnent. In addition, retest any <br />container which shows evidence of weakness at anytime, or shorn a 5 percent or <br />more loss inn weight. <br />2. Test Procedure <br />a) Ton containers are hydrostatically retesled by the hydrostatic expansion method <br />[DOT Section 173.34 (a) and Section 173.31 (d)J. If at the time of <br />requalifrcation a container shows a leak or a permanent expansion which <br />exceeds 10% of the total expansion, it must be condemned. <br />3. Container Records <br />a) Records nr:rst be kept showing results of the test. Eaclr caniairner nnust have the <br />lest date plainly and permanently strnnped into the metal of one head or the <br />chime of each task passing the hydrostatic retest. <br />G. Vendor personnel shall conduct all activities related to the loading and <br />unloading of ton containers. <br />3. Minimum deliveries are one (8) ton containers. <br />4. Suunlier must be able to guarantee delivery within 3 to 4 calendar days <br />after order placement. Failure to meet delivery times shall result in <br />vendor being disqualified and award nullified. <br />
