Here's criteria for naming a street after someone <br />1. Individuals must have provided "extraordinary public service or some exemplary <br />contribution" to the public and be associated with the community where the <br />highway is located. <br />2. The designee must be deceased or an elected official who is no longer in office. <br />More items... <br />Jan 12, 2017 <br />Assemblyman Chad Mayes' proposal needs to fulfill criteria before the names <br />of Jose "Gil" Vega and Lesley Zerebny may adorn the four --mile stretch of <br />Highway 111 between overture and West San Rafael drives. The proposal <br />needs to be approved by the state Assembly and Senate. <br />Caltrans provided The Desert Sun with a list of criteria. <br />Here's the criteria: <br />• Individuals must have provided "extraordinary public service or some <br />exemplary contribution" to the public and be associated with the <br />community where the highway is located. <br />• The designee must be deceased or an elected official who is no longer in <br />office. <br />2 Local or private sources need to cover the costs of signs or plaques. <br />The proposal needs to be done by a person who represents the district <br />where the road is located and a specific stretch needs to be identified. <br />• The stretch cannot exceed five mil in -Length, <br />• A proposal ne,,es to, reflect a community consensus and have no local <br />opposition.
