n lU** Zeport <br /> 1)1v:ti#, on foubfti iktfetv E©mmttt <br /> The July 10, 2000 meeting of the Health and Public Safety Committee was called to order <br /> by its Chairperson, Council Member Andrew Ujdak at 4:25 pm in the Council Informal Meeting <br /> room. <br /> Persons in attendance included Council Members Aranowski, Pfeifer, Kelly, King,Ujdak, <br /> Coleman and White;Bernie Kish,Jeremy Barclay,Jack Colwell of the ibOUth ttb tt'LbUtU, <br /> and Kathleen Cekanski-Farand,Council Attorney. <br /> Council Member Ujdak noted that the first item on the agenda was Bill No. 28-00 which <br /> would amend Chapter Four, Article Four, Section 18.5 of the South Bend Municipal Code <br /> regarding Adult Businesses. He noted that he had received a letter from City Attorney John <br /> g g <br /> t3' Y <br /> Broden dated July 10, 2000 (copy attached) requested that this Bill be continued to the Council <br /> meetin g August of 28, 2000. <br /> Following discussion, Council Member Kelly made a motion, seconded by Council <br /> Member White, that Bill No. 28-00 be recommended to be continued until the August 28, 2000 <br /> Council meeting at the request of the Petitioner. The motion passed. <br /> The Committee then heard a presentation from Jeremy Barclay who oversees licensing in <br /> the Department of Administration and Finance. He noted that § 4-18.5 of the South Bend <br /> Municipal Code requires quarterly updates to the Council on Adult Businesses licensed by the <br /> City. He provided a written handout(copy attached) summarizes this information from 1996 to the <br /> present. <br /> Council Member Ujdak noted that he has been in contact with the Indiana Attorney <br /> General's Office who informed him that the opinion from that office on various aspects of <br /> proposed Bill No. 28-00 would be sent on Tuesday or Wednesday. It was also noted that Little <br /> Denmark may not petition to be re-licensed this calendar year, but may petition for a license next <br /> year.
