Visser,Executive Director of the South Bend Regional Museum of Art,presented <br /> handouts on the"Fall 2000 Members' News & Class Listings"and"The Sculpture at the Airport". <br /> it She noted that the Members News brochure is published three (3) times per year and that the <br /> airport brochure is published every two(2) years. She highlighted upcoming events. <br /> 1 Council Member Kelly noted that there are so many great things happening in this area that <br /> 1 he believes our arts programs stack up against any offered in the country. <br /> Council President Pfeifer noted how successful the "Meet Me on the Island" events have <br /> been with this program being in its 11th season. <br /> 1 STUDEBAKER MUSEUM (GENERAL FUND # 101-0409) <br /> 2000 Projected Budget Expenditures:$ 190,268 2001 Projected Budget Expenditures: $197,733 <br /> Andrew Ujdak, President of the Board made the presentation. He introduced Bonnie <br /> Oswald, Business Manager. <br /> Mr. Ujdak noted that the 1999 audit showed attendance of 88,000, $ 186,000 in sales and <br /> 25,000 in holiday gift shop catalogues. He provided a copy of the Studebaker National Museum, <br /> Inc. Financial statements for 1998 and 1999 (copies attached). It was noted that the Museum <br /> entered into a management agreement with the City of South Bend which expires on December 31, <br /> 1999 which provides for monthly payments of$ 12,917 ($ 155,000 per year) for the Museum to <br /> maintain the City's collection of Studebaker vehicles, achieves and other items. The Museum also <br /> entered into agreements with the Industrial Revolving Loan Fund of South Bend, Indiana (IRLF) <br /> and the Studebaker Autoparts Sales Corporation (SASCO) to preserve and promote the <br /> community's Studebaker heritage. The Museum has two(2)locations,one owned by the Museum <br /> and the former Studebaker dealership (Freeman-Spicer) building leased for $ 1.00 per year from <br /> the City under an operating lease which expired in December 1999 with the new arrangement being <br /> terminated by either party upon sixty(60) days written notice. <br /> Mr. Ujdak noted that in 1996 the Museum entered into a joint committee with the City and <br /> the Studebaker Drivers Club which centers around the common desire to build a world class <br /> museum for the Studebaker collection. The goal is to have a "world class museum" for the <br /> collection by February 16, 2002, the anniversary of the founding of the South Bend Studebaker <br /> operation by the Studebaker brothers. <br /> Mr. Ujdak noted that there are$3 million in grant requests with November deadlines soon <br /> approaching. Grants from the State of Indiana have also been successfully obtained for the third <br /> I floor of the facility. In June, Mr. Ujdak was in Madison, Wisconsin at the National Drivers <br />
