Public Works and Property Vacation Commillee <br /> South Bend Common Council <br /> The March 13,2000 meeting of the Public Works and Property Vacation Committee was <br /> called to order at 4:17 p.m. in the Council Informal meeting room by its Chairperson, Council <br /> Member David Varner. <br /> Persons in attendance included: Council Members Aranowski,Pfeifer,Kelly,King, <br /> Varner,Ujdak,White,Kirsits and Coleman; Carl Littrell,Gary Gilot, Jon Hunt,Ann Kolata, <br /> James A. Masters,Robert Hunt,Robert Henry,Terry Bland of the*nth IR enb tribune,and <br /> Kathleen Cekanski-Farrand, Council Attorney. <br /> Council Member Varner noted that the first item on the agenda was to review Bill No. <br /> 24-00 which is a request to vacate a portion of Tutt Street between Main and Lafayette. He <br /> noted that this Bill was continued at the request of the petitioner at the last committee meeting <br /> held on February 28, 2000. Dr. Varner noted that Ann E. Kolata,Deputy Executive Director of <br /> Community&Economic Development, representing the petitioner,has sent a letter dated March <br /> 13, 2000,requesting a continuance of Bill No. 24-00 (copy attached). Pursuant to that written <br /> request,Dr. Varner stated that Bill No. 24-00 would be continued to the March 27th meeting. <br /> Under unfinished business,Dr. Varner acknowledged Mr. James A. Master,the attorney <br /> representing certain remonstrators against Bill No. 24-00. Mr. Masters filed a letter dated March <br /> 13,2000 which addresses various issues related to the"petition to vacate Tutt Street between <br /> Main and Lafayette"(copy attached). Mr. Masters voiced opposition to the proposed vacation <br /> and requested that his letter be made a part of the record.
