City of South Bend and St. Joseph County Historic Preservation Guidelines 135 <br />District Addendums: Lincoln Way East Local Historic District <br />What is the Historic Preservation Commission Liaison Committee? <br />A group of three (3) people chosen to work with the residents of historic listed properties and the Historic Preservation Commission. <br />Who is eligible to become member? <br />Any property owner in the district, over the age of 18 who volunteers or is nominated. <br />How long must i serve as a committee member? <br /> For a one-, two- or three-year period. <br />How often will the committee meet? <br />Every four months. In addition, the historic preservation commission meets once a month on the 3rd monday of each month, and it is advisable to have a representative from the liaison committee attend each meeting . <br />How is the committee selected? <br />If there are 3 or fewer volunteers or nominees, those persons are the liaisons. If there are more than 3, the property owners will choose 3 by vote . <br />Volunteer for liaison committee <br />Complete the liaison committee volunteer form online or print, complete and mail form to: <br />Historic Preservation Commission <br />Lincolnway East District Liasion Committee <br />227 West Jefferson Blvd, Suite 1400 S <br />South Bend, IN 46601 <br />Duties of Historic District Liaison Committee Members <br />1 . Work and communicate with the residents of historic listed properties and the Historic Preservation Commission . <br />2 . Inform and give recommendations to area residents pertaining to the standards . <br />a . Meet with new property owners and distribute the standards book along with other pertinent information . <br />b . Notify the Commission of the names and addresses of new owners . <br />3 . Advise The Commission staff of any possible infractions of the standards that may occur with the property owners and work with them <br />toward a solution to the problem . <br />4 . Hold liaison committee meetings once every four months or as situations arise . <br />a . Keep records of all business conducted during these meetings and all other meetings called by the historic liaison committee . <br />b . Disseminate pertinent information to the district property owners through whatever means available, such as a neighborhood newsletter, flyer, etc. <br />5 . At least one representative of the committee attends the monthly Historic Preservation Commission meeting . <br />6 . Participate in the scheduled revisions and updating of the standards . <br />7 . Make an annual report to the Commission at one of the regularly scheduled meetings . <br />Historic District Liason Committee <br />DRAFT
