COMMEMORATING AND HONORING <br /> THE LIFE AND LEGACY OF LOUISE G. (MOTHER) BAILEY <br /> few people are honored with a Special Proclamation from members of the South <br /> Bend Common Council; and <br /> lfiattas even fewer are honored with an"Extra" Special Proclamation, with Louise G. <br /> (Mother) Bailey being possibly the only one having been honored with a Special Proclamation to <br /> celebrate her 100th birthday; and <br /> fir, now, over seven years later, Mother Baily,is being honored again for her <br /> extraordinary life, which includes not only a Special Proclamation, this "Extra" Special <br /> Proclamation, but also the Key to the City and many other awards for her dedication and service <br /> to residents of South Bend; and <br /> GACemad,'Louise was born on October 12, 1915, to Mac and Mary Amerine in Deckerville, <br /> Arkansas, the oldest of six children; and <br /> Louise's family moved to Jonesboro Arkansas where she met and married <br /> Reverend Robert Brown Burks, who preceded her in death; and <br /> 6h , later, Louise met and married Curtis Bailey, who also preceded her in death; and <br /> lifiwead, in 1948, the Burks family moved to South Bend where Louise joined St. John <br /> Missionary Baptist Church and remained a faithful and dedicated member until her passing on <br /> January 29, 2023; and <br /> OXisrems, during her decades of service to St. John, Mother Bailey held several offices, <br /> including Secretary to the Missionary Department and later became President of Circle#2; and <br /> G'ffsentad, Mother Bailey worked at Memorial Hospital as a Nurse's Aid for over 30 years <br /> and then, at the age of 80, worked as a Nurse's assistant at Perley Elementary school until she <br /> resigned at age 85; and <br /> 6X‘reao, Mother Bailey loved delivering flowers and dinners for the church to other <br /> church members who were ill or could no longer attend church and spent much of her time <br /> visiting nursing homes and hospitals; and <br /> Worms, Mother Bailey loved and was loved by her entire family and her life is being <br /> celebrated by those who remain to remember her, including her daughters, Betty Austin, Emma <br /> Robinson and Gwendolyn Mcintosh, eleven grandchildren, seventeen step-grandchildren, <br /> nineteen great grandchildren, twenty-three great-great grandchildren and one great-great-great <br /> grandchild, two special nieces, Sandra Gary and Mary Bruins and too many other relatives and <br /> friends to count; and <br /> W , if it is true that"only the good die young" Mother Bailey was the youngest 107 <br /> year old the world has ever seen. <br /> Witt, P . 6e Vali+and/ ad+66;oc'aisr adJ/g/keed: <br />
