PI <br /> utilities Committee <br /> October 23, 2000 <br /> Page 2 <br /> Energy. Council Member Ujdak noted that there is a growing problem with regard to corn stalks <br /> in sewers. <br /> Mr. Zmudzinski stated that New Energy was granted a variance five (5) years ago. New <br /> Energy was opened in 1985 and had no pretreatment regulations. The City has commissioned a <br /> study by an engineering firm on solids and pretreatment needs with regard to New Energy. <br /> Council Member Ujdak inquired about the time table,noting that the problem with regard to <br /> around Leland Avenue and St. Adelbert's Catholic <br /> odor and corn <br /> stalks is growing <br /> especially <br /> Church. Mr. Zmudzinski noted that the maintenance issues will be studied as well as overflow <br /> issues and odor issues. <br /> Gary Gilot, Director of Public Works, noted that the Bill is recommending the proposed <br /> changes based on"good science"which is improving each year in this area. <br /> Following discussion, Council Member Aranowski made a motion, seconded by Council <br /> Member Kelly that Bill No.93-00 be recommended favorably to Council. The motion passed. <br /> There being no further business to come before the Committee, Council Member Kirsits <br /> adjourned the meeting at 5:25 p.m. <br /> At 5:30 p.m. Council Member Kirsits reconvened the Utilities Committee in the Council <br /> Informal Meeting Room. At this time, Mayor Stephen J. Luecke, Council Member Coleman and <br /> City Attorney John Broden joining the others listed as being present for the prior portion of the <br /> Utilities Committee meeting. <br /> Mayor Luecke noted that the effluent from the ethanol plant does cause problems in the city <br /> especially along Leland Avenue. <br /> Mayor Luecke then shared information with those present about the adult business <br /> ordinance and the College Football Hall of Fame. <br /> At 5:50 p.m.,Council Member Kirsits adjourned the Committee meeting. <br /> Respectfully submitted, <br /> Council Member Al`Buddy"Kirsits,Chairperson <br /> Utilities Committee <br /> KCF:kmf <br /> Attachments <br /> • <br />
