This <br />proposed resolution is aimed at providing a partial remedy for past <br />Sharon L.McBride discrimination with a goal of preventing future discrimination. Specifically, <br />Third District the proposed resolution calls for: <br />Troy Warner <br />Fourth District a) a formal apology from the Common Council to the LaSalle Park <br />Neighborhood, African Americans, and other affected individuals and <br />Eli Wax communities on behalf of the City of South Bend for the violations and harm <br />Fifth District incurred by past practices; <br />Sheila Niezgodski <br />Sixth District b) a recommendation for a Truth and Reconciliation Commission made up of <br />representatives and members of affected communities to be established to be <br />Karen L.White responsible for advising the City on how to make financial reparations to <br />At Large impacted communities; <br />Rachel Tomas Morgan <br />At Large c) the City to target investment in institutions and programs that provide <br />affordable housing, psychological counseling, health care services, and <br />Lori K.Hamann vocational training to impacted communities,their family members and others <br />At Large affected by past practices; <br />d) the South Bend Community School Corporation to work with the City <br />around reparatory justice efforts for impacted communities and to incorporate <br />into its curriculum a history lesson about the experiences of African <br />Americans in South Bend and the struggles to hold those at fault accountable <br />and to seek reparatory justice for affected communities;
