tommftttt Ztpott: <br /> Public Works and Property Vacation Committee <br /> 'go the Common QCountfl of tfjt eftp of South 3Bt'lnb: <br /> The March 22, 1999 meeting of the Public Works and Property Vacation Committee was <br /> called to order by its Chairperson, Council Member David Varner at 4:02 p.m. in the <br /> Council informal meeting room. <br /> Persons in attendance included Council Members: Aranowski,Kelly, Sniadecki, Varner, <br /> Pfeifer, Coleman and King; Citizen Member Ms.Muhammand,Dea Andrews,Bob Hunt, <br /> Lew Powell,Ed Talley,Terry Bland and Kathleen Cekanski-Farrand. <br /> Dr. Varner noted that the first item on the agenda was to review Bill No. 19-99 which is an <br /> ordinance requesting the vacation of a portion of the first north/south alley east of North <br /> Spruce Street. <br /> Dea Andrews of South Bend Heritage made the presentation. She noted that the proposed <br /> vacation would allow South Bend Heritage Foundation to continue its development of the <br /> West Washington Street Neighborhood. The vacation would allow for the land at the <br /> southeast corner of Spruce Street and Colfax Avenue to be replatted into lots for the <br /> construction of single-family homes. The vacation is a necessary step to arrange the <br /> planned homes in a fashion would would promote aesthetics and safety. <br /> No one spoke in favor or against the proposed vacation from the public. <br /> Dr. Varner noted that the Board of Public Works sent the request to the Council with a <br /> favorable recommendation(copy attached). <br /> Council Member Aranowski made a motion, seconded by Council Member Sniadecki that <br /> Bill No. 19-99 be recommended favorably to Council.
