He requested that the Council Attorney look <br /> into the zoning classification and whether this type of use can be located at this proposed <br /> site. <br /> Council Member Hosinski voiced concerns about the "institutionalizing of the homeless" <br /> where South Bend has become the Midwest's premier provider of services. He urged the <br /> Council to look into to all options and explore what alternatives may be available. He <br /> concluded that representatives from Gates had also contacted him and feel betrayed by the <br /> City since they are the largest downtown retailer in the city. He further requested that the <br /> UEZ status be checked of the site. <br /> James Voll noted that the area in question he believes is zoned "D" light industrial and <br /> normally would not allow residential uses, however he would contact Don Fozo, the <br /> Building Commissioner. <br /> Bob Hunt noted that he became aware of the option to purchase approximately four (4) <br /> weeks ago.
