r 1 <br /> atommitt * Zeport: <br /> Personnel and Finance <br /> t t Common Council of tht City of South Stub: <br /> The February 9, 1998 meeting of the Personnel and Finance and Health was called to <br /> order by its Chairperson, Council Member John Broden at 4:50 p.m. in the Council <br /> informal meeting room. <br /> Persons in attendance included Council Members: Aranowski, Pfeifer, Coleman, Ujdak, <br /> Broden, Hosinski, and Varner; Mayor Stephen Luecke, Terry Bland, Ann Kolata, Beth <br /> Leonard, Jon Hunt, Ed Levy, Sue Hodgson, Cathy Roemer, Carl Littrell, Eugenia <br /> Schwartz,Fire Chief Luther Taylor,Assistant Chief Rick Switalski, Kathy Dempsey,Phil <br /> St. Clair and Kathleen Cekanski-Farrand. <br /> Council Member Broden noted that the first item on the agenda was to review Bill No. 16- <br /> 98 which would appropriate funds for various capital expenditures. <br /> Mayor Stephen Luecke made the presentation. He noted that one additional item had been <br /> added which was $ 40,000 for the Center City Associates. He also noted that with the <br /> proposed upgrades in the Fire Department which included back-up generators,the the City <br /> should maintain its#3 ISO rating. <br /> Mayor Luecke then highlighted the major appropriations which are proposed which include <br /> but are not limited to: approximately $ 4.5 million from the Sewage Works Depreciation <br /> Fund,approximately $2.3 million from the Local Roads and Streets Fund,approximately <br /> $ 1.9 million from the General Fund, approximately $ 1.6 million from the Economic <br /> Development Income Tax Fund, and approximately $ 1.6 million from the Water Works <br /> Depreciation Fund. <br /> Mayor Luecke stressed that several major projects have not been addressed in the proposed <br /> appropriation with these projects being considered for funding from COLT and CEDIT <br /> funds in the future. Some of these projects include: a new Police Station, a new salt <br /> dome,parking garage improvements,an aquatic center, etc. <br /> Council President Coleman commended Mayor Luecke and his administrative staff for a <br /> very thorough presentation of materials over the past several weeks. <br /> Council Member Aranowski commended the administration for the line-item detail on the <br /> COLT monies. <br /> Council Member Varner stressed the need to continue to have programs which would <br /> strengthen neighborhoods throughout the City. <br /> Council Member Broden spoke in favor of the proposed appropriation Bill. <br /> Following further discussion, Council Member Aranowski made a motion, seconded by <br /> Council Member Varner, that Bill No. 16-98 be recommended favorably to Council. The <br /> motion passed. <br /> Under miscellaneous business, Council President Coleman noted that proposed Resolution <br /> No.98-17 would encourage the Indiana State Legislature to pass Senate Bill No. 120. <br />
