Commatss **sport:
Public Works and Property Vacation Committee
"Co tht common Council of the titg of South lamb':
The February 9, 1998 meeting of the Public Works and Property Vacation Committee was
called to order by its Chairperson, Council Member David Varner at 3:45 p.m. in the
Council informal meeting room.
Persons in attendance included Council Members: Aranowski, Kelly, Ujdak, Varner,
Coleman, Pfeifer, Broden and Hosinski; Terry Bland,John Oxian,Ed Levy, Carl Littrell,
Dr.M.R.Troyer and Kathy Cekanski-Farrand.
Council Member Varner noted that the first item on the agenda was to review Bill No. 12-
98 which is a request to
vacate an alley in Jodon's Subdivision.
l Y
Dr. M.R. Troyer made the presentation. He noted that the vacation would permit the
combination of lots 3 and 4 and would then allow the design of a side yard and garden. He
also noted that it would enhance public safety in the area by having the alley closed.
Dr. Varner noted that the Board of Public Works sent the proposed Bill to the Council with
a favorable recommendation (copy attached). The vote was 2-1 with Carl Littrell voting in
the minority.
Carl Littrell noted that the vacation, if approved, would create a T-intersection.
The Council members noted that all other City agencies (Police, Fire, Solid Waste, Area
Plan and Economic Development)recommended approval of the proposed vacation.
Following discussion, Council Member Udjak made a motion, seconded by Council
Member Broden, that Bill No. 12-98 be recommended favorably.
