Commttttt *sport: <br /> Zoning and Annexation Committee <br /> to tit Common Couittil of tbt tits of £+outb Ott14: <br /> The February 10, 1997 meeting of the Zoning and Annexation Committee was called to <br /> order by Vice Committee Chairman, John Broden, at 3:45 p.m. in the Council informal <br /> meeting room. <br /> Persons in attendance included: Councilmembers Kelly, Aranowski, Pfeifer, Varner, <br /> Ujdak, Coleman, Sniadecki; Doug Carpenter,Don Porter,John Byorni,Bernard Feeney, <br /> Larry Magliozzi and Kathleen Cekanski-Farrand. <br /> Councilmember Broden noted that the first item on the agenda was to review Bill No. 108- <br /> 96 which is a voluntary annexation commonly known as "Young Annexation". The <br /> C ouncil also reviewed Resolution No. 97-6 which h is the fiscal plan for the proposed <br /> annexation. <br /> Mr. Larry Magliozzi liozzi made the presentation. Mr.Feeney,the architect for the petitioner,noted <br /> that eventually the property would be rezoned"D"Light Industrial. <br /> Following discussion,and upon Councilmember Hosins ki coming to th e <br /> meetin g, <br /> he made <br /> a motion, seconded by Councilmember Varner, that Bill No. 108-96 be recommended <br /> favorably to Council. The motion passed. <br /> Councilmember Hosinski then chaired the meeting from this point forward. <br /> The next Bill to be heard by the committee was Substitute Bill No. 109-96 which is a <br /> rezoning request for the northwest corner of Ironwood Road and State Route 23. <br /> Mr. John Byorni stated that this request received a favorable recommendation from both <br /> the staff and the Area Plan Commission. Councilmember Hosinski noted that there were <br /> two (2) remonstraters at the Area Plan Commission, however, both lived North of the <br /> proposed area. <br /> Following discussion, Citizen Member Doug Carpenter made a motion, seconded by <br /> Councilmember Pfeifer, that Substitute Bill No. 109-96 be recommended favorably to <br /> Council. The Motion passed. <br /> Councilmember Hosinski then noted that there had been additional activity on the property <br /> along Portage Avenue where a request was recently turned down by the Common Council <br /> for the former Norwest Bank location to be zoned "C" Commercial. There was general <br /> discussion on this topic. <br /> Mr. John Byorni noted that there are several items which the staff of the Area Plan <br /> Commission are working. These include amendments to the Zoning Code that permit <br /> ti <br />
