(b1WW4' (o 1.Wfi of t/w o Joat4 grrad.- <br /> The September 8, 1997 meeting of the Community and Economic Development Committee <br /> was called to order by its Chairperson, Council Member John Broden at 5:05 p.m. in the <br /> Council informal meeting room. <br /> Persons in attendance included Council Members: Pfeifer,Kelly,Broden,Varner,Ujdak, <br /> Coleman, Hosinski, Sniadecki; citizen member Sue Hodgson, Mike Beitzinger, Robert <br /> Kastens, and Kathleen Cekanski-Farrand. <br /> Council Member Broden noted that the first item on the agenda was to review Bill No. 97- <br /> 77 which is a five year personal property residential tax abatement request for Capital <br /> Technologies,Inc. for the property located at 3615 West Voorde Drive. <br /> Mr. Mike Beitzinger, Economic Development Specialist, reviewed the August 28, 1997 <br /> Community and Economic Development report(Copy Attached). The report noted that the <br /> ton presses at a cost of $ <br /> i i ner proposes to purchase and install two new 1600 to p <br /> petto p p p <br /> 750,000. The project qualifies for a five year personal property <br /> tax abatement under <br /> app licable state and local laws. <br /> h <br /> Mr. Robert J. Kastens, Treasurer then made a further presentation. He noted that t he tax <br /> in order to maintain their client base. He also noted it is a very tight <br /> abatement is necessary i o d �'Y <br /> Y <br /> labor pool market.et. Their company currently <br /> utilizes students fro m GMI. <br /> In response to a question raised by Council Member Pfeifer,it was noted that there are 11 <br /> women in the 180 workforce. One woman is in design, one is an electrician and the rest <br /> are clerical. <br /> Following favorable comments, Council Member Coleman made a motion seconded by <br /> Council Member Sniadecki that Bill No. 97-77 be recommended favorably to Council.
