G°anbauttt e' <br /> Public Works and Property Vacation Committee <br /> moo- t/A amazon, G°ouizciI gf tA& l�1 jv of Joath �`c !• <br /> The August 25, 1997 meeting of the Public Works and Property Vacation Committee was <br /> called to order by its Chairperson, Council Member David Varner at 4:55 p.m. in the <br /> Council informal meeting room. <br /> Persons in attendance included Council Members: Aranowski, Kelly, Ujdak, Varner, <br /> Coleman, Pfeifer, Sniadecki and Hosinski; Terry Bland, Marlin Bontrager, Jim Voll, <br /> Cynthia Robinson,and Kathy Cekanski-Farrand. <br /> Council Member Varner noted that the first item on the agenda was to review Bill No.75- <br /> 97 involving an alley vacation request near Huron Street. Council Member Varner noted <br /> that this Bill was incorrectly listed as "Bill No. 61-97" on agenda. <br /> Cynthia Robinson, Neighborhood Watch Captain read a prepared statement as to why the <br /> vacation was needed and showed P ictures of the area in question. She stressed the need to <br /> decrease speeding traffic,preventing litter and deterring drugs. She urged that the vacation <br /> r neighborhood. Ms. Robinson also ur <br /> would help promote a safe urged the Council to look g <br /> into accommodation of individuals with disabilities and noted that the information from the <br /> City Clerk's office was incorrect, that the postage for each notice was $ 1.67 and not $ <br /> 1.42. <br /> Council Member Varner noted that the Board of Public Works sent the request to the <br /> Council with a favorable recommendation. He further noted that the Engineering <br /> Department requested an easement to the south from the petitioner which she agreed to do. <br /> Marlin Bontrager,a neighbor, spoke in favor of the proposed vacation. <br /> Council Member Pfeifer stated she would look into accommodation issues. Council <br /> President Kelly thanked Ms.Robinson for her energy and determination in this matter. <br /> Following discussion, Council Member Aranowski made a motion, seconded by Council <br /> Member Ujdak that Bill No. 75-97 be recommended favorably to Council.
