1Commftttt Zsport: Parks and Recreation Committee to Ujt tommttOtt tOUtttfl Of OS tf tg Of *MO Otntb: The March 24, 1997 meeting of the Parks and Recreation Committee was called to order by its Chairperson, Council Member James Aranowski at 4:20 P.M. in the Council informal meeting room. Persons in attendance included Council Members; Aranowski, Pfeifer, Kelly, Broden, Varner,Ujdak, Coleman, Sniadecki; Carl Littrell, Phil Sinclair, Randy Nowacki, Vivian Dembera,Don Porter and Kathleen Cekanski-Farrand. Council Member Aranowski noted that the purpose of the meeting is to review Bill No. 21-97 which would approve the sale of park property. Mr.Phil Sinclair made the presentation. He noted that the Park Department and the South Bend School Corporation have had discussions with regard to the real estate. The parties have reached agreement that the purchase price for the real estate in question would be one hundred and thirty-six thousand dollars ($136,000.00) and would be applied to the construction of a new golf course maintenance building. He noted that the new maintenance facility would be built between the third and fourth holes at the Studebaker Park. The current facility is eighteen hundred(1,800) square feet and the new facility will be thirty-five hundred (3,500) square feet for a total cost between $270,000.00 and $290,000.00 which include costs for sewer lines,road, architectural fees,etc. Following discussion, Council Member Udjak made a motion seconded by Council Member Sniadecki that Bill No.21-97 be recommended favorably to Council. The motion passed. Council Member Broden then introduced Vivian Dembera, a senior at the University of Notre Dame,to the Committee who is working on a internship with the Park Department. There being no further business to come before the Committee the meeting was adjourned at 4:30 P.M.
