He noted that a new projector would have cost <br /> $200,000. He stated that the warranty provisions should have been pursued by the city <br /> before moving ahead on this matter. <br /> Council Member Broden questioned the ISI Sports Contract and was advised that the <br /> Commission was based on the contract. <br /> Council Member Aranowski noted that fundraising efforts must be intensified in order for <br /> the College Football Hall of Fame to improve financially. <br /> Council Member Varner suggested that donations from Hall of Famers be pursued. Mr. <br /> Penney noted that approximately $15,000 in donations had been received in a six week <br /> period. <br /> Council Member Ujdak questioned ISI's Commission and whether there would be a <br /> renewal of sponsorship by the Post Office and Burger King. No status update could be <br /> given. <br /> Mayor Luecke noted that no current updated could be given, however, Mr. John Hansen <br /> and the NFF Board were in communication with each other. <br /> Mr. Kish stated that he would provide monthly financial reports to the Common Council. <br /> He also agreed to meet on a quarterly basis regarding updates. <br /> Following further discussion, Council Member Aranowski made a motion, seconded by <br /> Council Member Coleman, that Bill No. 130-97 be recommended favorably to Council. <br /> The motion was a 2-2 tie. Under Council procedures, the Council President would be <br /> permitted to vote. Council President Kelly then voted in favor of Bill No. 130-97,with the <br /> bill being sent favorably to Council by a 3-2 vote. <br /> The committee then reviewed Bill No. 131-97 which would make technical corrections to <br /> Ordinance No. 8623-95 addressing salaries of employees of the city of South Bend. The <br /> City Controller made the presentation. She noted that the bill corrects titles and <br /> incorporates new titles in light of restructuring. She noted that all positions have been <br /> properly budgeted. She noted that one position is over the 3% increase. In response to a <br /> question raised by Council Member Varner,it was noted that the Group Sales Coordinator <br /> was absolutely essential in the opinion of the Mayor. <br /> Following further discussion, Council Member Aranowski made a motion, seconded by <br /> Council Member Sniadecki that Bill No. 131-97 be recommended favorably to Council. <br /> The motion passed. <br /> Council Member Pfeifer added that in light of the projector and its cost and the way that it <br /> was handled by the City Administration for the College Football Hall of Fame, that she <br /> believes strongly that $100,000 should be decreased from the College Football Hall of <br /> Fame budget. <br />
