04 SOurN g��4 1 <br /> U <br /> .�\ GLACE <br /> 1865 <br /> ii <br /> BILL NO. 22-49 <br /> SPECIAL RESOLUTION NO.4983-22 <br /> A SPECIAL RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL <br /> OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND,INDIANA CONGRATULATING BLAKE WESLEY, ONE OF SOUTH <br /> BEND'S NATIONAL BASKETBALL ASSOCIATION'S 2022 FIRST ROUND DRAFT SELECTIONS <br /> Blake Carrington Wesley was born in South Bend, Indiana on March 16, 2003; and <br /> Offamai,Blake's parents, Derrick and Leslie Wesley, grew up in the South Bend area, and are products of <br /> the South Bend Community School Corporation; and <br /> 611.4 sports are in Blake's blood,his father was an outstanding basketball player at Riley High School, <br /> going on to play for Ball State University and his mother played basketball,ran track and was a cheerleader for <br /> LaSalle High School; and <br /> • Blake is also a product of the South Bend School Corporation, having also graduated from James <br /> Whitcomb Riley High School in 2021; and <br /> 0) Blake's.career with the Wildcats included 1,496 points, an average of 27.1 points a game; and <br /> 01after an outstanding high school career where he was named to the Indiana All-Star team as a <br /> senior while leading the Wildcats to the 4A sectional title, Blake chose to stay in his hometown and play college <br /> basketball for the University of Notre Dame; and <br /> Gr in his year playing for the'`Irish, Blake led the team in scoring, averaging 14.4 points a game <br /> while also averaging 3.7 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.3 steals; and <br /> • Blake's career with the Irish included the game winning basket over perennial powerhouse <br /> Kentucky; and <br /> Wm**Blake elected to take his talents to the National Basketball Association where, on June 23, 2022, <br /> Blake became the first player from the South Bend public school system to be selected in the first round of the <br /> NBA draft; and <br /> • <br /> G, the South Bend Common Council, along with all'other South Bend basketball fans, wish to send <br /> Blake off to San Antonio with best wishes for a long and storied career in the NBA. <br /> ora, Manyion tb a doer4 d1e nww#z. mel/0 F0 ' 106/44n' d Lfdlana, as wd: <br /> Section I.
