Committee e Z port: <br /> Public Works and Property Vacation Committee <br /> "itCo the Common Connell of the QCtti of §outh �nb: <br /> The February 26, 1996 meeting of the Public Works and Property Vacation Committee was <br /> called to order by its Chairperson, Council Member David Varner at 4:30 P.M. in the <br /> Council informal meeting room. <br /> Persons in attendance included Council Members: Varner, Luecke, Kelly, Zakrzewski, <br /> Broden,Washington,Hosinski, Coleman, and Pfeifer;Don Fozo, Carl Littrell,Jenny Pitts <br /> Manier, Dr. Carol Ecker, Jackie Wrolewski, Thomas Walz, Ann Kolata, Jeff Rinard, <br /> Lorretta Duda, Patrick McGraw, Jan Hoffer, Phil St. Clair, Don Porter, and Kathleen <br /> Cekanski-Farrand. <br /> Council Member Varner noted that the first item on the agenda was to review Bill No. 3-96 <br /> which is a petition to vacate an alley and street near the area of Ohio and Fellows. <br /> Council Member Varner noted that the Board of Public Works sent the proposed vacation <br /> to the Council with a favorable recommendation(copy attached).Ann Kolata then made the <br /> presentation. She noted that the vacation is necessary to allow the Family and Children <br /> Center to go forward with a project near the facility of the new Parkview Juvenile Center <br /> construction project. She stated that they are presently in the process of purchasing land <br /> from the Redevelopment Commission and would have a facility for the Boys and Girls <br /> Club run by the Family and Children Center. Council Member Varner noted that recently he <br /> was advised that the Family and Children Center has been successful with approximately <br /> 80% of the fund raising for this project. In response to a question raised by Council <br /> Member Broden,it was noted that there was not a cover letter with the proposed ordinance. <br /> Mrs. Kolata stated that she would file one prior to tonight's s Council meeting. <br /> Following favorable discussion, Council Member Zakrzewski made a motion, seconded by <br /> Council Member Pfeifer, that Bill No 3-96 be recommended favorably to Council. The <br /> motion passed. <br /> The Committee then reviewed Bill No. 6-96 which is a request to vacate certain property <br /> south of East Wayne Street. Mr. Tom Walz, the attorney for the petitioner, made the <br /> presentation. He noted that he represents the estate of Ralph V. Ganser and Mr. Patrick <br /> McGraw who is purchasing the property in question.He noted that Mr.McGraw intends to <br /> use the property for recreational purposes so the youth in the area could use it once it was <br /> developed further. <br /> Council Member Varner noted that the proposed vacation received a favorable <br /> recommendation from the Board of Public Works (copy attached). Following further <br /> discussion, Council Member Washington made a motion, seconded by Council Member <br /> Pfeifer that Bill No. 6-96 be recommended favorably to Council.The motion passed. <br /> • <br />
