(b) Qualifying sworn members of the South Bend Fire Department holding the rank of First <br />Class Firefighter and above, who are employed by the South Bend Fire Department shall receive <br />additional compensation in recognition of the cumulative years of service on the South Bend Fire <br />Department. Such longevity pay shall be paid in a lump sum in the last payroll period in each of <br />the months of December listed below, and shall be attributed to the annual salary base for pension <br />purposes.
