Fox Jewelers was started by the family and has been a popular and recognizable business in South Bend and Mishawaka for over 62 years.The business today is owned and operated by the Szlanfucht Family. We have owned this lot for approximately 30 years.We have tried to sell the lot along with the rental property for 15 years.We literally have had little or no interest in any residential development. We feel that this is a natural break from the residential neighborhood,a neighborhood where we have our business located down the street.We have always been a good neighbor supporting the south side of South Bend and will continue to do so. The property for rezoning has two lots.One is vacant,the other is a rental property.We strongly feel,especially by the lack of interest for residential development,that both lots must be sold together. We are not interested in owning a long term rental property.When the time comes for the rental property to need any major repairs,taking into consideration taxes on a rental property,we will most likely demolish the house. We took a very serious look at the buyer and buyer's proposal before we agreed to proceed with this.We believe this will be a very good asset for the neighbors and the area in general.
