Committee Report
Parks and Recreation
May 25, 1995
Page 2
Council Member Luecke, the First District Council Member where Pinhook Lagoon
is located noted that Mr. Ruthrauff and the other members of the Water-ski Club are serious
athletes and unfortunately have been unfairly maligned by much of the discussion this
evening. Council Member Luecke noted that he has concerns with regard to the peace and
quiet of the area, concerns of the residents and enjoyment of the overall park.He stated that
he also believes that this should be carefully weighed against the concerns of water-skiing
activites but currently he would oppose Bill No. 28-95.
Council Member Slavinskas noted that he is not a member of the Committee and
voted against the Bill in first reading which is very unusual.
Council Member Kelly stated that this has been a very good exchange of ideas but
believes that an alternative site should be considered. Council Member Puzzello noted that
she also is not a member of the Committee and believes that it should be considered at an
alternative location. Council Member Coleman noted that other activity should be properly
studied. He thanked Mr. Ruthrauff for his fine presentation and dedication to this area and
our community. Council Member Coleman noted that currently the Bill is set for second
reading and Public Hearing at the regular Council meeting of June 12, 1995.
Following discussion, Council Member Luecke made a motion, seconded by
Council Member Kelly that Bill No. 28-95 be recommended unfavorably to Common
Council. The motion passed by a 3 to 0 vote.
There being no further business to come before the Committee the meeting was
adjourned at 6:55 P.M.
Respectfully submitted,
Council Member Sean Coleman, Chairperson
Parks and Recreation Committee
Attachments
