Commttttt Upon: <br /> Public Works and Property Vacation Committee <br /> to tfjt Common tonnat' of tfjt Cttg of iFo'tttb IStnb: <br /> The June 26, 1995 meeting of the Public Works and Property Vacation Committee <br /> was called to order by its Chairperson, Council Member Ann Puzzello at 4:30 P.M. in the <br /> Council informal meeting room. <br /> Persons in attendance included Council Members: Puzzello, Luecke, Kelly, <br /> Slavinskas, Zakrzewski, Washington, Coleman, Duda, and Ladewski; Phil St. Clair, <br /> Jenny Manier,John Leszczynski,Don Porter, and Kathleen Cekanski-Farrand. <br /> The first item on the agenda was to review Bill No. 35-95 which would appropriate <br /> $1,104,779.30 from various accounts of the Local Roads and Streets account. Mr. John <br /> Leszczynski made the presentation. <br /> He then provided a two page hand-out entitled"1995 Public Works"which detailed <br /> public works projects totaling$5,376,000.00. <br /> In response to a question raised by Council Member Slavinskas, it was noted that <br /> the depth of concrete streets should be six inches throughout. Mr. Leszczynski noted that <br /> the river crossing by the VFW would be cleaned first with automation being delayed. Mr. <br /> Leszczynski also noted that many old project accounts are being closed out. <br /> In response to a question raised by Council Member Zakrzewski, it was noted that <br /> the Locust Road Street project would be a 3 to 4 year project with 1 phase being done each <br /> year. Council Member Zakrzewski noted that he has put alleys on the back burner and now <br /> focusing on this project. It was further noted that bids for the approximate$100,000.00 to <br /> $110,000.00 would be taken within the next 2 weeks and should be started by August 1, <br /> 1995 and completed by the end of August. Mr. Leszczynski welcomed lists of needs from <br /> other Council Members in this area. <br /> Following discussion, Council Member Kelly made a motion, seconded by Council <br /> Member Duda, that Bill No. 35-95 be recommended favorably to Council. The motion <br /> passed. <br /> In response to a question raised by Council Member Ladewski, it was noted that <br /> asphalt is costing approximately$1.00 per ton. <br /> Under miscellaneous business the Council Attorney recommended that the <br /> Committee hear Bill No. 95-39 which is a Resolution to approve an Interlocal Agreement <br /> between the City and the South Bend Community School Corporation concerning the <br /> dissolution of the South Bend Recreation Commission. Council Member Coleman as <br /> chairperson of the Parks Committee noted that this was to be set as an item of the Parks <br /> Committee and since it was not that it would be heard under Council Member Puzzello's <br /> Committee instead. <br /> Mr. Phil St. Clair, the Superintendent of Public Parks made the presentation. He <br /> noted that this ends a forty year agreement in effect between the School Corporation and the <br /> City of South Bend. • <br />
