atommittts Zsport: <br /> Community and Economic Development Committee <br /> to the Common atountil of tbt €ttji of South gtnb: <br /> The March 2, 1994 meeting of the Community and Economic Development <br /> Committee was called to order by its Chairperson, Council Member Roland Kelly at 4:10 <br /> P.M. in the Council informal meeting room. <br /> Persons in attendance included Council Members: Kelly, Puzzello and Luecke; <br /> Mike Beitzinger,Larry Magliozzi,Don Inks,Jon Hunt, and Don Porter. <br /> The Department of Community and Economic Development lead the discussion on <br /> possible revisions to the current City's Tax Abatement Laws. Mr. Magliozzi handed out a <br /> Memorandum addressing "Residential Tax Abatement Proposal" dated March 18, 1994 <br /> (copy attached). The Council Attorney also provided copies of the State Law addressing <br /> deductions for rehabilitation or redevelopment of real property in urban development areas <br /> (Indiana Code Sec. 6-1.1-12.1-1 through 3.) <br /> Council Member Kelly voiced concern with regard to homeowners with homes <br /> Y g <br /> valued at $100,000.00 or greater receiving tax abatements. Council President Puzzello <br /> voiced concern regarding square footage requirements. Council Member Luecke voiced <br /> concern with regard to not having a mechanism similar to a Design Review Committee. <br /> Council President Puzzello questioned whether garages would be included within the <br /> square foot requirements. It was noted that Habitat which is a not for profit corporation <br /> does not build garages. Council Member Luecke also questioned the size of the lots which <br /> would be targeted for such development. <br /> Council Members present stated that additional discussion on the proposal would be <br /> necessary. <br /> Mr. Don Inks then presented a Memorandum dated February 28, 1994 entitled"Tax <br /> Abatement changes regarding Industrial and Warehousing"(copy attached). <br /> Following discussion, the meeting was adjourned at 5:30 P.M. <br /> Respectfully submitted, <br /> Council Member Roland Kelly, Chairperson <br /> Community and Economic Development <br /> Attachments <br /> KCF:ds <br />
