F 71 <br />BILL NO.58-22 <br />ORDINANCE NO. <br />SP 2 2C`7 <br />CITY CLERK, SOUTH BEND, N <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, <br />INDIANA, SETTING THE ANNUAL SALARY FOR THE SOUTH BEND CITY CLERK <br />FOR CALENDAR YEAR 2023 <br />STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT <br />Pursuant to Indiana Code § 36-4-7-2, the City's legislative body is required to fix the annual <br />compensation of all elected officers. Such compensation may "not be changed in the year for <br />which it is fixed, nor may it be reduced below the amount fixed for the previous year." <br />The following Ordinance establishes the annual compensation for the City Clerk of the <br />City of South Bend in calendar year 2023. The City Clerk serves as the clerk to the legislative <br />body pursuant to Indiana Code § 36-4-6-9 and is required to preserve the legislative body's record <br />and proceedings. The City Clerk is also charged with keeping the City Seal, administering official <br />oaths, attending all regular and special meetings of the Common Council, and performing other <br />duties as may be required by the legislative body. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, as follows: <br />Section I. The annual compensation for the City Clerk of the City of South Bend in <br />calendar year 2023 shall be and hereby is established as follows: <br />2022 2023 <br />$75,977 $79,775.85 <br />Section II.
