Committee Report <br /> Community and Economic Development <br /> December 19, 1994 <br /> Page 2 <br /> He noted that it is necessary so that equipment could be purchased to be more <br /> competitive. In response to a question raised by Council Member Luecke it was noted that <br /> the equipment should last at least 10 years. Mr. Luecke stated that he has toured the plant <br /> and that he is impressed and that they have been good neighbors. In response to a question <br /> raised on truck traffic it was stated that there has been an increase along Angela Blvd. It <br /> °1a was further noted that all Tax Abatement reports have been properly filed and are current. <br /> Following discussion, Council Member Luecke made a motion, seconded by <br /> *ma Council Member Ladewski that Resolution No. 94-118 be recommended favorably to <br /> Council. The motion passed. <br /> The Committee then reviewed Resolution No. 94-119 which is a 10 year Real <br /> Property Tax Abatement request for Heritage Homes Southeast. Mr. Beitzinger reviewed <br /> the report from the Community and Economic Development Department dated December 9, <br /> 1994 (copy attached) Mr. Jeff Gibney then showed a site plan of the area in question. He <br /> noted that there will be 30 two bedroom units, 24 three bedroom units for a total cost of <br /> approximately$3.8 million dollars. Council Member Luecke noted that he is an employee <br /> of South Bend Heritage and will be the project manager. It was further noted that since the <br /> project will be 100%low income and the code only requires 20% that they believe that they <br /> meet the special exception requirement.Only local contractors would be used. <br /> discussion Council Member Slavinskas made a motion, seconded b <br /> Following Y <br /> a Council Member Luecke that Resolution No. 94-119 be recommended favorably to <br /> Council.The motion passed. <br /> iikThe Committee then reviewed Resolution No. 94-120 which is a 3 year Real <br /> vim Property Tax Abatement request for 1122 South Main Street. Mr. Beitzinger reviewed the <br /> Community and Economic Development report dated December 13, 1994 (copy attached). <br /> It was noted that the $29,000.00 figure should be amended. Mr. James Masters the <br /> Attorney for the Fire fighters Credit Union made the presentation.He noted that the former <br /> Police Credit Union building would be moved to South Main and as a result both the Fire <br /> and Police Credit Unions would be next to each other. They received their Charter in 1959. <br /> Following discussion, Council Member Luecke made a motion, seconded by <br /> Council Member Slavinskas, that Resolution No. 94-120 be recommended favorably to <br /> Council.
