_Sp121'N F <br /> O� ��: <br /> Y5ALL D . <br /> � of <br /> 1865 ,: <br /> SPECIAL PROCLAMATION NO. 08-2022 <br /> A SPECIAL PROCLAMATION CELEBRATING THE 99th ANNIVERSARY OF THE <br /> GREATER FRIENDSHIP MISSIONARY BAPTIST CHURCH <br /> 'Whereas, a great movement began in 1923 when a church was organized by Rev. <br /> Brady and called Friendship Baptist Church; and <br /> 'Whereas, through the past ninety-nine years, the following men have assisted <br /> God in growing His church as pastors: Rev. Brady; Rev. Richardson; Rev. H. White; <br /> Rev. Liggins; Rev. Andrew W. Williams; Rev. J.J. Jackson; Rev. Davis Staples; Rev. <br /> Dave S. Davis and Rev. Larry W. Davidson; and <br /> 'Whereas, the Church has been known by different names, beginning with the <br /> Friendship Baptist Church in 1923 and renamed the Greater Friendship Baptist <br /> Church in 1937, and now the Greater Friendship Missionary Baptist Church; and <br /> Whereas, the Church has had locations at 108 Falcon Street, 145 South Falcon <br /> Street and 206 South Falcon Street; and <br /> 'Whereas, over the past ninety-nine years, the Church has initiated many <br /> programs to reach out to others, including "Chosen Vessels"; Nurses Guild; Teenage <br /> Boys and Girls classes; "Friendship Flyers"; Vacation Bible School; tutoring <br /> programs which evolved into the R.E.A.C.H. Program; "TEEN"; "Jump Start"; Young <br /> Adult Ministry; Child Care Ministry; Covenant Class; "Heirs of David"; a media <br /> ministry; and the Family Training Center; and <br /> 'Whereas, the Church continues to strive toward God, through good times and <br /> bad, always committed to its mission "to expand the kingdom of God quantitatively <br /> and qualitatively through worship, evangelism, assimilation, church membership, <br /> discipleship, ministry, Biblical leadership, stewardship, fellowship, and spiritual <br /> formation." <br /> Now, therefore, be it proclaimed; by the Common CounciC of the City of <br /> South Bend,Indiana, as foCCows: <br /> Section I. We join with the members of the Greater Friendship Missionary <br /> Baptist Church in celebrating the Church's 99th anniversary. <br /> Section II. We look forward to 2023 and celebrating the Church's centennial <br /> anniversary. <br /> Section III. We eagerly await God's plans for the Church during its next 99 <br /> years. <br />
