-5o UIF1e fA. >4\ •\ PAACL 1865 SPECIAL PROCLAMATION NO. 06-2022 A SPECIAL PROCLAMATION AWARDED BY SOUTH BEND COMMON COUNCIL AND SOUTH BEND CITY CLERK COMMEMORATING AND HONROING GREATER HOLY TEMPLE FOR THEIR DEDICATION AND TIME SPENT SERVING THE COMMUNITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA Webster's dictionary defines a time capsule as a container holding articles of the present time, buried or preserved for a future age. That future age has now come for us for this moment about the history of Greater Holy Temple; and G, , the first thing we find in this time capsule is the beginning of this church which started in the home of the late Elder R.D. Wilson and his devoted wife, Mother Bettie Wilson. Greater Holy Temple, Church of God in Christ was birthed out of these prayer meetings; and Greater Holy Temple COGIC members live by the creed we"Great expectations from God and He has great expectations from us:" and, 6 . , Mother Josephine Redding, Elder Harrison Benjamin Wiley, Missionary Viola Wiley, and Eld Leroy Webster Sutton are just a few of the dedicated leaders who have made significant contributions to Greater Holy Temple, COGIC's development over the last 90 years. and, G,fir•paus under the leadership of Pastor Leroy Webster Sutton the church worked diligently toward the cause of Kingdom Building and grew substantially—erecting a new sanctuary and the Joy Center which was later renamed in memory of Pastor Leroy W. Sutton; and, G, ,the church is now under the leadership of Pastor Lee D. Ross and First Lady Starla Ross, (daughter of Pastor Leroy Sutton) who have played a significant role in serving the South Bend community through hardships experienced during the 2020-2021 COVID 19 pandemic and continues to thrive and, Oilway, Greater Holy Temple, COGIC continues to set ambitious goals to impact the kingdom of God living by the creed "the goal before us is not greater than God's power behind us!" and, Cliageks, we are grateful for Greater Holy Temple, COGIC's excellent service to the South Bend Community and hope for the best as their journey continues.
