COMM ftttttport: <br /> Community and Economic Development Committee <br /> to the Common Council of the tttp of 15out j tnti: <br /> The July 25, 1994 meeting of the Community and Economic Development <br /> Committee was called by its Chairperson, Council Member Roland Kelly at 5:07 P.M. in <br /> the Council informal meeting room. <br /> Persons in attendance included Council Members: Luecke, Washington, Kelly, <br /> Puzzello, Slavinskas, Zakrzewski, Coleman, Duda, Ladewski; George Herendeen, Jim <br /> and Linda Teske, Mike Beitzinger, Mr. Ernest Szarwark, Don Porter, and Kathleen <br /> Cekanski-Farrand. <br /> The first item on the agenda was to review Bill No. 77-94 which would amend <br /> section 2-151 and 2-76.1 of the Municipal Code. <br /> Mr. Beitzinger made the presentation. He noted that basically that the ordinance <br /> would increase the central business district by extending the northern border and would <br /> increase the legal description for the economic development target area. Mr. Ernest <br /> Szarwark spoke in favor of the proposed Bill. <br /> Following further discussion, Council Member Slavinskas made a motion, <br /> seconded by Council Member Ladewski,that Bill No. 77-94 be recommended favorably to <br /> Council.The motion passed. <br /> The next item on the agenda was to review resolution No. 94-76 which is a three <br /> year real property tax abatement request and Bill No. 94-77 which is a five year personal <br /> property tax abatement request.Both requests are made for James and Linda Teske for the <br /> property located at 4075 Ralph Jones Drive. <br /> Mr. Mike Beitzinger reviewed the report dateed July 12, 1994 for Applo Precision <br /> Machinery Inc. (copy attached) which verified that the petitioner qualifies for both of the <br /> requested abatements. <br /> Mr. George Herendeen the attorney for the petitioner then made a formal <br /> presentation. He noted that the company is currently located on Western Ave. and that they <br /> have outgrown their current facility. It was also noted that they have a need for skilled job <br /> applicants and look forward to moving into their new location. <br /> In response to a question raised by Council Member Luecke,it was noted that the <br /> equipment in question will have a life expectancy of 15 to 20 years. <br /> Council Member Coleman noted that the lack of skilled workers shows that most <br /> worker are employed currently however it does cause additional training needs for the <br /> petitioner. <br /> Council Member Zakrzew ski spoke in favor of both tax abatements. He noted that <br /> they are currently located within his district and that he has personally known them for the <br /> past several years.He noted that they have been great neighbors. It was also noted that the <br /> company provides parts and products for 105 local companies. <br />
