Committee Ztport <br /> Public Works and Property Vacation Committee <br /> o the Common Council of the tttp of f'ioutfj 3I to : <br /> The December 19, 1994, meeting of the Public Works and Property Vacation <br /> Committee was called to order by its Chairperson, Council Member Steve Luecke at 4:10 <br /> P.M. in the Council informal meeting room. <br /> Persons in attendance included Council Members: Luecke, Washington, Kelly, <br /> Puzzello, Slavinskas, Zakrzewski, Coleman, Duda, and Ladewski; Ann Kolata, Jenny <br /> Pitts-Manier, Chief Ron Marciniak, Don Fozo, Don Porter, and Kathleen Cekanski- <br /> Farrand. <br /> Council Member Luecke noted that the first item on the agenda was to review <br /> Substitute Bill No. 120-94, which is a petition to vacate certain right-of-way in the area for <br /> the proposed St Joseph County Juvenile Detention Center. <br /> Ann Kolata made the presentation and provided a copy of the substitute Bill and a <br /> copy of the substitute Petition(copies attached) to the committee. <br /> It was noted that the Board of Public Works sent a favorable recommendation (copy <br /> attached). <br /> Following further review, Council Member Duda made a motion, seconded by <br /> Council Member Washington, that substitute Bill No. 120-94 be recommended favorably <br /> to Council. The motion passed. <br /> The Committee then reviewed Bill No. 122-94, which would amend Chapter 6 of <br /> the South Bend Municipal Code ,entitled "Building". <br /> Mr. Don Fozo made the presentation. He noted that it is a housekeeping measure <br /> which does several things. More specifically,it unifies the licensing fees, it will require the <br /> registration of plumbing contractors, and it will make numerous miscellaneous adjustments <br /> which reflect actual costs incurred. Mr. Fozo noted that the State of Indiana no longer <br /> provides a list of licensed plumbers; therefore,further regulation by the City and County is <br /> necessary. He noted that all reinspections will be at$25.00, and that the testing fee will be <br /> raised from $40.00 to $50.00. He also noted that his department will accept the passing <br /> rate set by the professional testing companies and organizations since they vary from <br /> company to company. <br /> He also noted that a new provision entitled "Inactive License" for electricians will <br /> be added to Sec. 6-23. <br /> Following further discussion, Council Member Duda made a motion, seconded by <br /> Council Member Ladewski, that Bill No. 122-94 be recommended favorably to Council. <br /> The motion passed. <br />
