Committtt sport: <br /> Public Works and Property Vacation Committee <br /> go the Common Council of the eity of ii.outh lotnti: <br /> The September 26, 1994 meeting of the public Works and Property Vacation <br /> Committee was called to order by its Chairperson, Council Member Steve Luecke at 4:00 <br /> P.M.in the Council informal meeting room. <br /> Persons in attendance included Council Members, Luecke, Washington, Kelly, <br /> Puzzelo, Slavinskas, Coleman, Duda, Zakrzewski, and Ladewski; Bill Lamie, Mr. <br /> Collins, Ann Kolata, Tom Eddington, Bob Hennessey, Carter Wolfe, Don Porter, and <br /> Kathleen Cekanski-Farrand. <br /> The Committee reviewed Bill No. 86-94 which is a vacation request for the first <br /> North-South alley East of South Michigan. <br /> Mr. Bill Laurie made the presentation. It was noted that the Board of Public Works <br /> sent a favorable recommendation (copy attached). The building would be used as a Life <br /> Treatment Center and is having a Open-House in mid November of 1994. Residents would <br /> not be allowed to have privet vehicles. Mr. Collins, the adjoining property owner was <br /> h <br /> 1 be <br /> advised that he would have an easement access to his <br /> noted that he would and o <br /> present an <br /> property. It was further noted that the Engineering Department recommended favorably <br /> subject to an easement of 153 feet for ingress and egress which would become part of the <br /> replat process. <br /> Council Member Washington questioned what the total bed count would be and <br /> was advised that it would be 70 in number. It was also noted in response to Council <br /> Member Washington that the facility in Elkhart is in the process of being sold. <br /> The Council Attorney recommended that Sec. 5 be amended to include language <br /> with regard to the ingress and egress access which would be a part of the replat process. <br /> it Member Ladewski <br /> Following discussion Council Ladewski, made a motion, seconded by <br /> g <br /> 1 <br /> nded favorably to <br /> Council Member Washington, that amended Bill No. 86-94 be recomme y <br /> g <br /> Council.The motion passed. <br /> The Committee then reviewed Bill No. 69-94 which is a vacation request for the <br /> first East-West alley South of Jefferson Blvd. Mr. Bob Hennessey made the presentation <br /> on behalf of the petitioner.He noted that the GSA desires that it be closed however would <br /> have removable barricades. He noted that there have been extensive Engineering studies <br /> with regard to the air intakes and because of the historic nature of the building they cannot <br /> put such units on the outside of the building. The cost for inside unit would be <br /> approximately$125,000.00. of tax payers monies. <br /> Council Member Luecke questioned the loading dock in relation to the location of <br /> the air intakes. It was noted that smell, order,and medical problems have resulted from the <br /> current system. <br /> It was further noted that the Board of PuIlic Works had sent a favorable <br /> recommendation to the Council dated July 20, 1994. <br />
