Commits*: Ztport:
Public Works Committee
Z0 4tommott CouutiU of Ujt eitv of South rub:
The August 22, 1994 meeting of the Public Works Committee was called to order
by its Chairperson, Council Member Steve Luecke at 4:40 P.M. in the Council informal
meeting room.
Persons in attendance included Council Members: Luecke, Washington, Kelly,
Puzzello, Slavinskas, Zakrzewski, Coleman, Duda and Ladewski; John Oxian, Russ
Matthys,Don Porter and Kathleen Cekanski-Farrand.
Council Member Luecke noted that he had received a letter dated August 18, 1994
from the General Services Administration requesting that Bill No. 69-94 be continued until
the meeting of September 12, 1994.
The Committee then reviewed Bill No. 80-94 which is a request to vacate an alley
east of South Sunnyside Ave.
Mr. Russ Matthys made the presentation. He noted that this the last alley which
needs to be vacated in the neighborhood. In light of the several small children and concern
for their safety, and the closeness of the alley to Adams High School, the residents believe
that the alley should be vacated with a fence being installed in a east west direction if
approved. It was noted that there will be multiple access easements for residents effected
for garage access.
Council Member Luecke noted that he had received a report from the board of
Public Works dated August 22, 1994, which submitted a favorable recommendation (copy
attached).
Council Member Ladewski suggested that a sign stating that the alley is closed
should be considered to give notice.
Following discussion, Council Member Duda made a motion, seconded by Council
Member Ladewski that Bill No. 80-94 be recommended favorable to Council. The motion
passed.
In response to a question raised by Council President Puzzello, Council Member
Luecke noted that the curb and sidewalk project through Good Neighbors-Good
Neighborhoods would have those applicants who will not be receiving assistance this year
at the top of the list for next year's consideration.
There being no further business to come before the Committee, the meeting was
adjourned at 4:47 P.M.
Respectively submitted,
Steve Luecke, Chairperson
Public Works Committee
Attachments
