Committu Ztport:
Zoning and Annexation Committee
go the Common QCountUY of the €ttv of ioutb 140:
The August 22, 1994 meeting of the Zoning and Annexation Committee was called
to order by its Chairperson, Council Member Lee Slavinskas at 4:48 P.M. in the Council
informal meeting room.
Persons in attendance included Council Members: Luecke, Washington, Kelly,
Puzzello, Slavinskas, Zakrzewski, Coleman, Duda and Ladewski; John Oxian, Karen
Kmiec,Adrian Pine,Don Porter, and Kathleen Cekanski-Farrand.
Council Member Slavinskas noted that the main item on the agenda was to review
Bill No. 78-94 which is a request to establish a Historic Landmark for the property located
at 520 East Colfax Ave. Mr. John Oxian introduced Mr. Adrian Pine and Karen Kmiec
who made the presentation. She noted that the property was built in the late 1880's and
most recently Mr. Otto Probst resided there until his death.
Council member Puzzello noted that Mr. Probst was known to her. It was also
noted that the PGA have purchased the Golf Museum located in the residence for
approximately 2 million dollars. Council Member Puzzello complimented the Historic
Landmarks Foundation for the improvements that they have made on the building.
Council Member Luecke also complimented the Historic Landmarks Foundation
and stated that they have made a"eyesore into a gem".
Following further discussion, Council member Duda made a motion, seconded by
Council Member Zakrzewski, that Bill No. 78-94 be recommended favorably to Council.
The motion passed.
Council Member Slavinskas noted that Bill No. 81-94 which is a rezoning request
for the property located at 1809 and 1815 East Ireland was never heard by the Area Plan
Commission. Accordingly, it would be continued until September 26, 1994, so that the
Area Plan Commission could hold a proper hearing on the same.
There being no further business to come before the Committee the meeting was
adjourned at 5:00 P.M.
Respectfully submitted,
Council Member Lee Slavinskas, Chairperson
Zoning and Annexation Committee
Attachments
KCF:ds
9
