atommfttss sport: <br /> Personnel and Finance Committee <br /> to the Common Qtonntfl of the City of South Otu : <br /> The August 23,1994 meeting of the Personnel and Finance Committee was called to <br /> order by its Chairperson, Council Member Sean Coleman at 3:15 p.m. in the Council <br /> informal meeting room. <br /> Persons in attendance included Council Members: Luecke, Kelly, Puzzello, <br /> Ladewski, Coleman,and Zakrzewski; William Egan, Carmen Piasecki, Elizabeth Rowell, <br /> Brian Hedman, Kevin Horton, Jeff Rinard, Tom Scarbuck, Susan Visser, John Harper, <br /> Irene Gammon, and Kathleen Cekanski-Farrand. <br /> CENTURY CENTER 1994 = $2,329,502.00 1005 = $2,411,071.00 <br /> Mr. Brian Hedman made the presentation.He noted that for 1995 there will be a net <br /> increase of one person. <br /> There are 11 full-time Teamsters employed at the Century Center and 36 full-time <br /> regular employees with approximately 20 to 30 part-time employees. He also noted that <br /> Service America is a separate operation with its own employees. He also noted that <br /> individuals in Corporations have a expectation of high quality of services when coming to <br /> the Century Center. <br /> Council Member Ladewski voiced concern over the lack of use of the Central Store <br /> by the Century Center. Elizabeth Rowell noted that they are using it for clerical supplies <br /> and are planning to be on line 100% by the end of this calendar year. <br /> In response to a question raised by Council Member Coleman,it was noted that the <br /> administrative cost will be fully phased in by next year. The budget item for 1995 is at <br /> $59,227.00. <br /> In response to a question raised by Council Member Luecke, it was noted that <br /> utility costs have decreased approximately$200,000.00 in the past two years. <br /> Revenue projections for 1995 seem similar then those for 1994, however there is <br /> concern over the construction will be taking place and how that will impact. Mr. Hedman <br /> noted that he is asking the Plate Collectors for a 3 year agreement for the years 1995 <br /> through 1997. He also noted concern with regard to the Fort Wayne Complex which has a <br /> 300 to 500 bed hotel proposed to be attached to the Coliseum. He noted that the Fort <br /> Wayne group is marketing heavily the Elkhart Businesses. <br /> Council Member Kelly questioned whether inquires are being made with regard to <br /> the upcoming opening of the Football Hall of Fame. He stated he believes that it should <br /> provide a greater National draw to the area. Mr.Hedman stated that there is interest and that <br /> it may create parking problems in the future. <br /> Mr.Horton noted that if Transpo purchases the garages that they may be requesting <br /> that up to three floors be reserved for the Football Hall of Fame and the Century Center <br /> patrons. <br />
