(ommftt*t Attport <br /> HUMAN RESOURCES AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE <br /> "go tljt 4COmmon QC0until of tfjt City of §outb <br /> The August 10, 1992 meeting of the Human Resources and Economic Development <br /> Committee was called to order by its Chairperson, Council Member Roland Kelly at 5:00 <br /> p.m. in the Council Informal meeting room. <br /> Persons in attendance included Council Members: Kelly, Coleman, Duda, Ladewski, <br /> Washington, Puzzello, Slavinskas, Zakrzewski, and Luecke; David Norris, Jeff Gibney, <br /> Mike Veitzinger,Don Porter, and Kathleen Cekanski-Farrand. <br /> The first item on the agenda was to review Bill No. 92-59 which is a tax abatement request <br /> for the 1200 block of West Washington Street. <br /> Mr.Mike Beitzing then reviewed the report from the Department of Economic Development <br /> dated July 24, 1992 (copy attached). <br /> Mr. Jeff Gibney noted that the West Washington Homes Partnership will develop sixty five <br /> (65) units of affordable housing in the 1200 block of West Washington. Twenty-two (22) <br /> duplexes and seven (7) triplexes will be build on four acres of land. In response to a <br /> question raised by Council Member Coleman it was noted that three management firms are <br /> currently being interviewed. In response to a question raised by Council Member <br /> Ladewski it was noted that the two (2) bedroom would rent for$300.00 per month and the <br /> three (3) bedrooms would rent for $400 per month. Mr. Gibney also noted that each <br /> would have its own back yard which would be fenced in. <br /> Council Member Slavinskas then spoke in favor of the ten (10) year abatement as opposed <br /> to the six (6) years. Council Member Washington also spoke in favor of the ten (10) year <br /> abatement. <br /> The Council Attorney,in light of the recommendation for the ten (10) year abatement,then <br /> proposed amendatory language to section VI to incorporate the ten (10) year designation <br /> based on the three items listed in the proposed language(copy attached). <br /> Following further discussion, Council Member Slavinskas made a motion, seconded by <br /> Council Member Duda that amended Bill No. 92-59 be recommended favorably to Council. <br /> The motion passed. <br /> Mr. Gibney then commented all interested parties and individuals with the cooperation they <br /> received throughout this process. <br /> Council President Luecke noted that he has made of public record his employment status <br /> and would be voting on the proposed abatement request at the formal meeting this evening. <br /> • <br />
