Committee Report <br /> HUMAN RESOURCES AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE <br /> To the Common Council of the City of South Bend: <br /> The May 10, 1993 , meeting of the Human Resources and <br /> Economic Development Committee was called to order by its' <br /> Chairperson, Council Member Roland Kelly, at 4: 00 p.m. in <br /> the Council Informal Meeting Room. <br /> Persons in attendance included Council Members: Luecke, <br /> Washington, Kelly, Puzzello, Slavinskas, Coleman, Duda <br /> Ladewski; Mike Beitzinger, Jon Hunt, Mike Seitz, Don Inks, <br /> George Macri, Don Porter, and Kathleen Cekanski-Farrand. <br /> Council Member Kelly noted that the purpose of the meeting <br /> was to review Resolution No. 93-47 which is a request of <br /> Macri's Bakery for a six (6) year Real Property Tax <br /> Abatement request for the property located at 212 , 214, and <br /> 214 1/2 North Niles Avenue. <br /> Mr. Mike Beitzinger then reviewed the report of the <br /> Department of Economic Development dated May 3 , 1993 (copy <br /> attached) . It was noted that restaurants such a Meanwhiles <br /> and Billie's had received tax abatements in the past. <br /> Council Member Ladewski questioned parking and it was noted <br /> that parking by the old Hoosier Box would be available. It <br /> was also noted that they are requesting to have a three-way <br /> liquor license. An artist's rendering by Cole Associates <br /> was then shown to the Committee. <br /> Mr. George Macri noted that this operation would be similar <br /> to the Grape Road restaurant and would have two (2) <br /> entrances with a courtyard effect. Council Member Puzzello <br /> questioned whether it would be a family restaurant and was <br /> advised that there would be no lounge. <br /> Following further discussion, Council Member Slavinskas made <br /> a motion, seconded by Council Member Duda, that Resolution <br /> No. 93-47 be recommended favorably subject to the condition <br /> that there be no three-way liquor license and that only beer <br /> and wine would be permitted. The motion passed. <br /> Council President Luecke noted that Barry Adams, who is the <br /> contractor, falls outside of the current NRA and wishes to <br /> build a single family housing unit and receive tax <br />
