Vet)Q,ILIT J f IMO ettlItIZIO 'i 1111ECCe <br /> The August 23, 1993 meeting of the Utilities Committee was called to order by its chair <br /> person Council Member Tom Zakrewski at 3:55 p.m. in the council informal meeting <br /> room. <br /> Persons in attendance included Councilmembers: Zakrewski, Coleman, Kelly, Duda, <br /> Puzzello,Luecke, Slavinskas, Wahington, and Ladewski,Jack Dillon, Mary Hall Mueller, <br /> Megan Wright, Pre-treatment Coordinator, James Kronk, Terry Bland, Patrick Brennen, <br /> Mrs. Brennen, Mike Beitzinger, members of the news media, and Kathleen Cekanski- <br /> Farrand. <br /> Councilmember Zakrewski noted that the only item on the agenda before the committee was <br /> Bill #68-93 which is a Bill amending articles 1 and 2 of Chapter 17 of the South Bend <br /> Municipal Code relating to "Pretreatment Requirements for the use of Public Sewers." <br /> Mr. Jack Dillon than review the proposed ordinance. He stated that the overall purpose of <br /> this ordinance is bring our local regulations into compliance with the Federal regulations. <br /> He stressed that is would not change the overall program and in response to a question <br /> raised by Councilmember Ladewski he noted that there would not be a dollar impact. <br /> Mary Hall Mueller of the City Attorneys Office noted that she had filed new substitute page <br /> 25 of the proposed ordinance. She noted that the Bill incorporates new definitions <br /> addressing at pass-throughs and gives more formalized procedures to bring everyone <br /> within the bounds of permit requirements. She stated that it clarifies judicial action with <br /> regard to notice and emergency situations. <br /> Following further discussion Councilmember Slavinskas made a motion second by <br /> Councilmember Coleman that Bill #68-93 as amended be recommended favorably to <br /> council. The motion passed. <br /> There being a further business to become before the committee the meeting was adjourned <br /> at 4:03 p.m. <br /> Respectfully submitted, <br /> Councilmember Tom Zakrewski <br /> Chair Person Utilities Committee. <br />
