RESOLUTION NO. 155 LUTION OF THE SOUTH BEND REDEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY A RESO RENAMING AND REDEDICATING THE MORRIS CIVIC PLAZA AS THE "JON R. HUNT PLAZA" WHEREAS, the South Bend Redevelopment Authority ("Authority") is the owner of certain real property located in front of the Morris Performing Arts Center, and more commonly known as the Morris Civic Plaza; and WHEREAS, Jon R. Hunt served as Executive Director of the City of South Bend's Department of Community and Economic Development from May, 1982 until his death on February 22, 2003; and WHEREAS, Jon dedicated himself in service to the community since commencing his career with the City in 1.975, first as a Planner in the Department of Community Development, then as the Mayor's Administrative Assistant under former-Mayor, Roger O. Parent, and finally as Executive Director for the Department of Community and Economic Development; and WHEREAS, during Jon's tenure with the City, he was involved in hundreds ofprojects which have benefitted the community including, but not limited to, development of the Morris Performing Arts Center; and WHEREAS, the Authority desires to memorialize Jon and his many contributions and his dedication ~o the City of South Bend by renaming the Morris Civic Plaza in his honor as the "Jon R. Hunt Plaza" in honor of Jon and in tribute to his memory. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the South Bend Redevelopment Authority, that: 1. The Morns Civic Plaza is hereby renamed and rededicated as the "Jon R. Hunt Plaza". 2. This Resolution shall be in full force and effect upon its adoption. ADOPTED at a meeting of the South Bend Redevelopment Authority held on August 18, 2004, at 1308 County-City Building, 227 West Jefferson Boulevard, South Bend, Indiana 46601.
